What it is (and isn't)
Does MarginHawk replace my accounting software?
No. MarginHawk is for tracking profit and margin while a job is still open. QuickBooks or whatever you use for real books stays where it is. Think of MarginHawk as the dashboard on your truck — not the mechanic’s bay.Does it do estimates or invoicing?
No, not today. MarginHawk focuses on the profit number. Sending quotes or invoices is what your existing tools handle. We may add simple estimating later, but only if that’s what testers actually pull out of us.Do I need to be tech-savvy?
No. If you can type a price and read a receipt, you can run this. It takes about ten seconds to log a cost from the truck.
How it works day to day
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes — MarginHawk is phone-first. Big tap targets, big numbers, made for gloves and glare. Open the site once and add it to your home screen; it opens like a native app after that.What if I have no internet at the job site?
The app shell will still open (a service worker handles that), but you need a connection to save new costs. Full offline write-through is on the roadmap — it’s not there yet.Can I invite my crew?
Not yet. MarginHawk is one user per account today. Multi-user crews with per-worker labor entry are a real request we’re considering, but they’re not built.
Your data
Do you sell my data?
No. Never. We don’t run ads, we don’t sell to brokers, and we don’t use tracking pixels. See our Privacy Policy for the full text.Can other users see my numbers?
No. Row-level security in the database prevents it — every read and write is filtered to your own account by Postgres, not just by app code. We verify this with a query-level test that runs against the real database. If a bug ever tried to leak your data, the database would refuse.What happens if I stop using MarginHawk?
Export everything to CSV any time (Settings → Your Data). Ask us to delete your account and we remove it plus all your jobs, costs, and workers within 30 days.
Pricing and access
Is it really free?
Yes, during the tester round. When we start charging, existing testers will get first look at pricing and won’t be surprised. Nothing turns into a paid feature without warning.How do I get access?
